Caldy 2nd team in Cup and League double header against Macclesfield.

On Saturday Paton Field Caldy’s 2nd xv will be looking to win a cup and league double against Cheshire rivals Macclesfield. This tough fixture kicks off at 2 .15 and in the past would probably be described as an aperitif to the 1st XV’s National 2 North League fixture against Luctonians.

However, the thrilling brand of rugby being played by Caldy’s development team makes such a description misleading.

This will be an exciting contest between two high quality teams and those attending Paton Field will be spoilt for choice of which game to follow. Although perhaps not having the experience or ballast of the senior sides both Caldy and Macc’s 2nd teams could almost certainly hold their own at level 6 in the RFU pyramid and both clubs will desperately want to progress in both league and cup competitions.

With an unbeaten start to the season Caldy will want to continue their success but Macclesfield are a formidable side. This will be a full - blooded no holds barred encounter. Those attending Paton Field should buckle up for a terrific contest.
