Caldy take on Ampthill this weekend looking to bounce back from last weeks defeat to Plymouth
Albion


Ampthill is a small market town in Central Bedfordshire 13 miles east of Milton Keynes and 14
miles north of Luton


There has been a rugby team in the town since 1881, in the past decade Ampthill have been on
the up with four promotions in that time the last of those being in 2014-2015 when they were
promoted to level three after winning the national 2 north v south playoff against Bishops Stortford
by 19 points 10 at Dillingham Park


Since Promotion they have adapted well to playing at National 1 finishing in the top five in the three
seasons


Ampthill have access to the development squad at premiership club Sarecens and also have a
number of quality players of their own including former Tonga international Aleki Aho Lutui the
hooker is one of a number of south sea island players who play at Ampthill, now 40 he has
previous Premiership experience with Worcester Warriors and Gloucester and has also played for
Edinburgh


Scrum half Kevin Barrer has a wealth of experience in the premiership and Championship having
played for Exeter Chiefs promotion side in 2009 and also played for London Irish and Saracens.
Retiring from the professional game in 2013 to become Saracens strength and conditioning coach
Ralph adams-hale is one to look out for in the future the promising prop is currently under contract
with the Saracens development squad and has previous experience in the Championship with
London Scottish


In a very tight league so far Ampthill find themselves in 10th place with 17 points, however a win
would take them above Caldy who are currently in joint second place a point behind leaders Old
Elthamians


Ampthill’s record is won 3 lost 3 losing last week to Cambridge 13-6 at home
