Caldy entertain Esher in the first home game of the season to be played on a Saturday with a Kick off at
Esher have had success since they joined the league system in 1987, reaching level two in 2010/11 after
winning National 1 the previous season. During the season the team also achieved a world record by
defeating an unfortunate Manchester team 148-0.
The club have been in National 1 for the past four seasons following relegation and are currently
coached by Canadian Ricky Nebbitt. Players to look out for include former United States International
Hayden Smith who plays at Lock and full back Sam Stanley who is a former sevens international for
Esher have had a difficult start to the season winning only one of their opening four games, last week’s
home game against Cambridge being their only victory, but the other three games against Amphill,
Plymouth Albion and Old Elthamians have been close matches, which sees the Walton on Thames outfit
second bottom of the early season league table.
Esher have former Caldy fly half Jack Lavin on their books, although he will not be in the matchday
squad due to long term injury.
Caldy are in high spirits after the win against last weekend’s league leaders Chinnor, placing the Ravers
third in the league table, the highest place the Wirral club have achieved with the potential to go higher
with a positive result at the weekend.
Currently Caldy have players in the top scorers for both trys and points with Ben Jones as the leagues
top point scorer and both JJ Dickinson and Nick Royle two of the top try scorers in the league with four
and six trys respectively.
The game on Saturday takes place at the Paton Field with a kick off of 3pm.
