Caldy v Sale Preview
As Christmas draws closer we welcome our nearest rivals Sale FC to Paton Field this weekend looking to get back to winning ways after a heavy defeat in awful conditions against Rosslyn Park last weekend.
Caldy have no major injury worries going into the game against their Cheshire rivals, who currently sit in 12thplace a point above the relegation places and 9 points behind 7thplaced Caldy.
Caldy were unlucky not to come away with a draw when the two sides met at Heywood Road earlier in the season when Ben Jones narrowly missed a conversion that would have completed a great second half for the Ravers.
Caldy have had many good battles with Sale FC over the years not least the last time they visited Paton Field in April 2017 when a victory was secured thanks to a kick from Jack Lavin which saw Caldy promoted to National 1 for the first time in their history in front of a crowd of more than 1000.
Sale won National Two (north) last season scoring 131 points out of a possible 150 beating local rivals Sedgley Park by five points.
Sale FC have a good working relationship with their Premiership neighbours Sale Sharks with a number of their development squad turning out for FC throughout the season.
If selected England U20 international fly half Kieron Wilkinson, who is highly thought of at Sharks and someone fans will have to watch out for. He is likely to be selected for the England U20 squad for the Six Nations in the new year.
The game kicks off at 2pm but with a large crowd expected fans are asked to arrive early to enjoy the hospitality that Caldy has become famous for. Gates open at 11.30am and admission is £10.
As a big crowd is expected please have either your money ready to avoid congestion at the gate thank you
