The best team I played with

  1. Darrell Evans- Hard Man- on and off the field
  2. Kenny Edwards- all action hooker first man to be awarded player of the year.
  3. Phil Wylie – Solid no nonsense Prop but a bit accident prone
  4. Bob Smith – Tall athletic could play 2nd Row or No 8 went onto play for New Brighton and Cheshire .
  5. Kenny Roberts – Prop or Second row- Great hands or so his girlfriends said.
  6. Bill Shackcloth- Many will not know Bill but he was an outstanding back row went onto play for Bristol
  7. Alan Roberts- Made his debut in my 2nd XV in the early 70’s a Viking on and off the field.
  8. Steve Miles – great all round player moved up to Prop when he went to New Brighton and won many caps for Cheshire
  9. Mike young – Stocky scrum half – ninth forward scored lots of tries but pass was suspect.
  10. Mike Metcalfe – Great hands – had to be playing outside Mike Young drop goal king
  11. Stuart Maxwell- Best wing never to play for England- Played in NW Counties against New Zealand scored two tries for NW Counties who were the first regional side to beat NZ.
  12. Andy Maxwell went on to play for England powerful runner Injured in France game
  13. Joe Speake – even faster -handling suspect- but Went to 68 Mexico Olympics 4x100 squad
  14. Bobby Hooks - Fast and nimble – Cheshire Sprint Champion still running now
  15. Roger Flashman -at 5ft 5in and 11st- speciality crash tackle I was fortunate my only competition was smaller than me.

Reserves-Peter Brooke- great servant to the club outstanding winger still holds the record for number of tries moved later in his career to prop.

Pete Seegar- A very mobile prop for his size.

Gary Devaney – first played at centre but found his role as prop.

Dave Gillespie.- Fly Half- Played for the 1st whilst still at school and University went on to play for Scotland A team , London Scottish and Melrose.
